What Is A Traumatic Injury?

A traumatic injury, or more specifically a physical trauma injury, is one that is very serious, and possibly life-threatening. Traumatic injuries break down into two main categories: blunt force trauma, and penetrating trauma. Blunt force trauma occurs when something strikes your body, leading to breaks, bruises, cuts, and concussions. Penetrating trauma occurs when your body is pierced by something, often leading to impalement or open wound.

Traumatic injuries result in emotional trauma, which must be accounted for as one of the personal effects of a traumatic event. Trauma, and aftershocks like post-traumatic stress disorder, from the immense stress placed on your body or life from such a difficult situation.
