Whistler is one of my favorite places in the world. Hands down. My wife and I even named youngest daughter after the mountain (her middle name is actually Whistler). Whistler offers some of the most interesting, challenging and varied terrain anywhere. It also offers unmatched backcountry access into true alpine terrain.
Whistler dropped a great video recently on the growing level of enthusiasm by skiers and boarders for leaving resort boundaries. As backcountry skiers increase in numbers, resorts are having to deal with how skiers are using the resort to access the backcountry.

Whistler’s approach seems sensible. One of the interesting takeaways from the video is that the perception of many leaving the resort has changed. Now there’s a real focus on making good decisions and being smart about safety.
