Bellarmine Leaders Breakfast

2015-10-22 JJ work

I attended the 4th Annual Bellarmine Leaders Breakfast this morning.  Bellarmine Preparatory School is a Catholic college preparatory school located in Tacoma.  Bellarmine’s goal is for all graduates to have the following characteristics – open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice.  I am proud to be a graduate of Bellarmine and to still be affiliated with Bellarmine as one of its assistant football coaches.  I have seen firsthand how Bellarmine graduates are open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice.

At the Bellarmine Leaders Breakfast, Bellarmine awarded its highest honor, the St. Robert Bellarmine Award, to Melanie J. Dressel.  The award is presented annually to a person of distinction who has served the school, the community, and the Church in an outstanding way reflecting the philosophy and goals of Bellarmine.  Melanie is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Bank.  After receiving the award, Melanie spoke about balancing a successful business with a strong community presence.  Her thoughts were simple – surround yourself with people who believe that their involvement in their community is important.

I feel fortunate that I am surrounded by coworkers at Evergreen Personal Injury Counsel that believe that our community is important and that their involvement in our community is important.  For those I work with, their involvement in our community is a “want to” and not a “have to.”  This makes me proud to be a part of Evergreen Personal Injury Counsel.
