A Very Real Look at an Avalanche Rescue

A Real Life Avalanche Rescue

This avalanche burial and rescue was captured on video from the perspectives of victim and the companion rescuer.  Fortunately, the victim was located and uncovered without any apparent injury.  However, had these skiers not been skiing together and properly equipped, the worst could have occurred.

The video is about 10 minutes long.  Its painstaking how long it actually takes to get to the victim and dig him out.  This video is a chilling real world example of what an avalanche rescue looks like.  Its worth watching it from start to finish.

Stay safe out there by practicing snow and avalanche safety.  Ski one at a time with your group.  Keep and eye on each other.  Always carry a beacon, shovel and probe when skiing in avalanche terrain.
